All Fell Down Chapter Seven

“Time to wake, Jacob.”

I think it was on my third day here that I asked the Computer why I was brought here.

For a moment I didn’t think he would answer.

That happens a lot. I ask a question and the Computer is silent. Sometimes I wonder if someone is controlling the Computer, like typing on a keyboard to tell him what to say but then other times I think he must be sentient.  He must be real.  I want him to be real. He’s all I have.  If he was just a voice I don’t think I’d be able to handle that.

            He did answer me.

            “You are the weapon, Jacob.”
