The Situation 19

I have headphones and I’m

balding I’m in the new yorker

I took back the future from china stop

your stomach rumbling I can’t

concentrate on conquest on the zeitgeist

on a readership on the fanboys is there

a clique or a club or a fashion or style

just once in a while I wear the right shirt

not last night I had nothing to say they pointed

at me asked my opinion on who they are

I said in america there are children

who’ll never be immigrants I said

in trends there’s rejection in friends

there’s a tribe don’t tell me my life

wouldn’t be better if I had headphones

and I was balding we didn’t invent the standard

just the stranded this is britain this is

the build-up to a moment this is getting it right
